It is a tradition that church bells are not rung during Holy Week. Gransden ringers take opportunity to hold their AGM at this time, which is usually held at Nutbells in Little Gransden.
This year seven of us were present with one apology and we enjoyed a relaxing hour or so discussing tower business. The tower officers were re-elected, Tower Captain – Sheila George, Deputy Tower Captain – David Prest and Secretary/Steeple Keeper – Phillip George.
We reflected on what we had achieved in 2025, summarised in our year-end video previously highlighted on the website – https://youtu.be/kXWEyv7aiaY and although we are few in number we seem to manage to do quite a lot!
Our wish list for 2026 includes an autumn outing and until then we will continue with weekly tied bell and Thursday practices, service ringing and ringing for weddings and the church fete. We are hosting the Ely DA Young ringers in May and the Huntingdon District Training Day, also in May. We are grateful for the support we receive from regular visitors which helps enormously with ringing methods and the general ambiance in the tower.
After the meeting we rang handbells which included Plain Hunt and Plain Bob Minor and Rounds on ten. Thanks to everyone for your support.
